Well Repair: Options and Advantages
We are specifically set up to repair large diameter wells, but we do repair some smaller wells.
The first part of the repair process is to move a rig on site and clean the well from the surface to the original bottom. This is done with scrapers and a wire brush. These tools will remove the rust and scale from the casing. A bailer is used to remove the in-fill out of the bottom of the well.
After cleaning the well, we take a video shot to evaluate the strength of the casing/screens and to determine if the well is plugged with mineral deposits. If it is plugged there are a few options that can be done. One is high pressure jetting. We use a mixture of water and acids to reach out into the aquifer formation and break down the mineral that is plugging the well. After the well has been cleaned it can be relined with new casings/screens as needed.
Repairing an existing well has definite advantages. A large diameter well can generally be repaired for much less than the cost of replacement, while maintaining water capacities close to the original flow rates.
